GOP Rep. presses DOJ, Bragg on 'suspicious' hiring of former DOJ official before Trump indictment
Michael Colangelo was a senior official at DOJ before leaving in December 2022 to take a job as senior counsel in Bragg's office shortly before the indictment of Trump in the case.
Rep. Lance Gooden, R-Texas, is pressing the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for more information related to the "suspicious timing" of hiring former Biden administration attorney on the team prosecuting former President Donald Trump in the New York hush money case.
Michael Colangelo was a senior official at DOJ before leaving in December 2022 to take a job as senior counsel in Bragg's office shortly before the indictment of Trump in the case.
"The politicized persecution of former President Trump and the collusion between the Biden Administration’s Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Manhattan District Attorney (DA) General’s Office have raised several concerns among the public," Gooden wrote in the letter dated April 23.
Gooden requested "all letters and communication" between DOJ and Bragg's office regarding the hiring of Colangelo.
